Town leaders said they went back to the drawing board.

On Tuesday, l more than 60 percent of voters approved $60 million in borrowing for a new police and fire complex at the Quonset business park.

Meanwhile around 57 percent voted to approve more than $137 million for a new middle school and upgrades at other schools across the district.

Last year voters rejected a lumped $222 million dollar bond for fear of a tax increase.

Construction on both projects is expected to start in 2026.
