Centers will open from 3pm until 10pm and offer free childcare, fun programming to allow parents to prepare for the holidays
PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge Elorza today joined Providence Recreation Director Michael Stephens to announce ‘Parents’ Night Off PVD,’ a partnership to spread holiday cheer for the New Year by offering parents a night to prepare for the holidays with extended hours at all recreation centers on Friday, December 21. Centers will be opened from 3:00pm until 10:00pm as a safe and secure place for children to have fun while their parents are away.
“Parents have told us that with their busy schedules there’s just not enough time to prepare for the holidays,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “We’re keeping opening our recreation centers later to give parents a little break to shop or wrap gifts for their loved ones. It’s our hope that this helps make the holidays less stressful for our families.”
Centers will offer snacks and fun programming to children ages 5-15, including sports activities, arts and crafts, board games and movies at some of the larger recreation centers, all at no cost to families! No registration is required, but parents are advised to contact their nearest recreation center to get details on programming offered.
