TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) – Taunton Mayor Shaunna O’Connell acknowledged Saturday the police were called during an argument between her and her husband.
“Ted and I have been married for 27 years,” O’Connell said in a statement. “Like all couples, we have had challenges. We’ve been working through marital issues. During an argument Ted involved the police and regrets making that decision.”
12 News was told on Saturday night that the Taunton Police Department is not offering a comment at this time.
“We ask for privacy for our family on personal matters as we work through this matter,” O’Connell said.
O’Connell, a former state lawmaker, was first elected mayor in 2019 and won a third term last November.
