Rhode Island FC to clinch first playoff berth

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — With one match left in the regular season, Rhode Island FC will clinch a spot in the playoffs in its inaugural season.
The team currently sits in fifth place after a 1-1 draw with the Charlestown Battery over the weekend.
There is a three-way tie for 7th, 8th and 9th place, but even if they lose their finale against Miami FC this Saturday they would only drop as low as the 8th seed.
“We started off, you could kind of see the ups and downs but it’s been fun it’s been good and I think we are ready to go,” Clay Holstad said.
Only eight teams make the playoffs.
