Central Falls Continues Annual Celebration of Black History Month

Central Falls –On Sunday, February 24, 2019 the City of Central Falls partnered with multiple organizations and dignitaries for the Annual Black History Month Celebration and Luncheon at New Life Church in Central Falls. The program included the New Life Church Choir, an instrumental selection by musician Paul Lowe, remarks from Jim Vincent, Lt. Governor Dan McKee and Brother Gary Dantzler, keynote address by Pastor Audi Lynch of Faithful Church in Dorchester, and more.

Central Falls has partnered with New Life Church for the past few years for the Annual Black History Month Celebration and Luncheon, as well as other community events. Mayor James A. Diossa is grateful for this partnership and opportunity to celebrate black history with the congregation.

“It is important for everyone, including a community like Central Falls, to acknowledge Black History Month,” Mayor James A. Diossa stated. “African Americans have contributed tremendously to the fight for equality and it serves as inspiration to residents of Central Falls that you can overcome adversity and make a difference.”

“I was thoroughly moved by the Black History Month Celebration at New Life Church in Central Falls; it was truly inspiring,” said Lt. Governor Dan McKee. “Central Falls does a tremendous job of celebrating their diversity, let us all do our best as leaders and residents to support inclusion everywhere.”

“The work of civil rights never stops, and the City of Central Falls understands that,” said Jim Vincent. “It is always a pleasure to be a part of such a great celebration in a community that acknowledges the many cultures it has to offer.”

“I am honored to be a part of the Central Falls 3rd Annual Black History Month Celebration and Luncheon,” said Brother Gary Dantzler. “It is beautiful to see a diverse community come together to honor the contributions of African Americans; this is truly Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s Jr.’s vision of a united country.”

The celebration of Black History Month is a part of an overarching objective of celebrating diversity in Central Falls. The city often works with a variety of community partners to host flag raising and cultural events. To find out what other events will be happening visit the City of Central Falls’ Facebook page.
