Central Falls Continues Diversity Campaign as City Looks to Hire More Fire Fighters and Police Officers

City set to create hiring lists for both public safety branches

CENTRAL FALLS, RI – Central Falls Mayor James A. Diossa announced that the city has launched a new hiring campaign to fill vacancies and create eligibility lists for both firefighters and police officers as the city continues to diversify the departments.

“After the widespread success of our diversity campaigns in 2015 and 2016, which led us to the hiring of veterans, residents, people of color, and women, we are excited to open up this opportunity again,” said Mayor Diossa. “It is our responsibility to have a hiring campaign that is inclusive to all potential candidates.”

In 2015, the city revamped its public safety hiring ordinance in an effort to improve the diversity of its public safety staff. Both departments are looking for career-minded, ethically sound and professionally motivated people to join their ranks. They will be accepting Preliminary Employment Applications until March 1st, 2018. Preference is given to individuals who live in the city, have veteran status, and/or speak a second language spoken in the city.

Both police officer and fire fighter applications can be found online on the city’s website at this link: http://www.centralfallsri.us/nowhiring. More information can be obtained by calling 401-727-7405.
