PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have arrested a man accused of kidnapping his 18-month-old son from a Massachusetts day care Thursday afternoon.
Nathan Dorosario Sr. was taken into custody in Pawtucket more than an hour after he picked up his son, Nathan Dorosario Jr., from a day care facility in Canton, according to police.
Officers were able to track Dorosario Sr. down after an automated license plate reader clocked his vehicle in Pawtucket, according to police. Both Dorosario Sr. and his son were found unharmed on Webster Street.
Canton Police Chief Helena Rafferty confirmed that Dorosario Sr. did not have custody of his son and the child’s mother has a restraining order against him. It’s unclear how he was able to take the child from the day care at this time.
Dorosario Sr. is currently being held as a fugitive from justice in Rhode Island. He will eventually be extradited back to Massachusetts to face charges in the parental kidnapping.
