Saving for your child’s education is one of the most impactful investments you can make towards their future. Whether it’s for college, vocational training, or other educational goals, starting early makes all the difference. Rhode Island’s “CollegeBound Saver” program is here to make that process easier, with a flexible, tax-advantaged 529 plan that helps families prepare for education costs in a simple, approachable way. Opening an account takes just 10 minutes, and with features like automatic deposits, investment options, and the ability for family and friends to contribute. To encourage families to start saving early, we are offering a $250 contribution to the first 160 new accounts opened between May 1–31 for children aged five or younger using promo code 529Day. Preparing Rhode Island for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Rhode Island is preparing to seize the moment when seven World Cup matches are played at Gillette Stadium next summer. With tens of thousands of international soccer fans expected, this is a unique chance to showcase Rhode Island on a global stage. University of Rhode Island economist Leonard Lardaro estimates the potential economic impact for Rhode Island could exceed $50 million, with hotels, restaurants, and local attractions poised to benefit. As General Treasurer, I am proud to be leading this effort through the collaboration and support of Governor McKee and Rhode Island Commerce Corporation. Working with our partners in government, tourism, emergency management, and more, we will ensure Rhode Island is ready to welcome visitors, provide a safe and organized environment, and maximize economic impact. Celebrating CCRI Day at Rhode Island State House
On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to join my colleagues in Government and CCRI President, Rosemary Costigan, in the State House Rotunda to celebrate “CCRI Day” – commemorating a remarkable milestone of 60 years of impact, access, and opportunity. CCRI has played a major role in the lives of so many Rhode Islanders, including my own family. My partner Sandra is a proud alumna and I spent a year at CCRI while playing on their soccer team. For six decades, CCRI has been preparing Rhode Islanders for success. And that work continues every single day, thanks to the dedication of the faculty, staff, and leadership who make this institution what it is. With the RI Promise Scholarship, Rhode Islanders coming out of high school can now attend for free. Providing access to high quality and affordable education is something that CCRI excels at, highlighting the need to offer all children in Rhode Island that same opportunity
